September 2010: Safety & Comfort At Home Time and time again I see people I know neglect to consider safety at home because they believe they live in a "safe" neighborhood. I've never believed there is such a thing as this mytical "safe" neighborhood. It is right up there with Santa, the Easter Bunny, and Atlantis. OK, so maybe Atlantis is practically down the street from me (Reno local joke). However, this month, in Tidbits, I did an interview with my friend Vicki Kawelmacher about safety at home and a new course she is offering women. Vicki learned first hand that there is no such thing as a safe neighborhood back in 2008 when a team of two men in a van tried to abduct her daughter from her front yard. After that, she made it her personal goal to make sure women (and men) get it: safety is important no matter where you are. We will discuss a few other things that pertain to safety including an Awesome Accessory, Whitten Gun Cases. Guns need protection too, not only from grubby little fingers, but from dirt and debris, and why not do it in style? Finally, my Pie Princess title remains unbeat for 3 consecutive years. I share my Gold Rush Pie recipe In The Kitchen. And on the note of comfort, what is more comforting than a soft blanket to snuggle up with? Well, we got one in our Creative Corner! And no Gunslinging Housewife is complete without a gun review. So for all you 1911 nerds out there, I will be reviewing the new Kimber Super Carry Pro for this month's Featured Firearm. Let's just say it is definitely on par with Kimber's line of fine quality pistols. On that note, I hope everyone had a great summer. The weather is finally getting nice. Fall is rolling in and I am looking forward to it. Hunting Season is here. This will be my first year hunting and next month is going to be geared towards hunting so keep a lookout if that's your cup of tea. Till then, stay safe and have fun! Jenny Teague
