August 2010: Concealed Carry Month

This was a really fun month for me to work on. There is a lot of drama going on in the concealed carry world here in Washoe County (Reno, NV). Back in 2008, the Reno Gazette Journal wanted to make public records of the names of concealed carry weapons (CCW) holders out here. They did not win and two years later, they went to appeal the case. Now it has been approved and about a week ago, every CCW holder in Washoe County received the letter from the sheriff's department stating that their names would now be public record. Why they think this a good idea is beyond me. For more details on the case, you can check up Reno Newspaper vs. Washoe County Sheriff. Until then, I just hope that a class action suit get started and this information is repealed. I wrote a blog on my little blogspot area about why I think it's a bad idea to have the information public records and really, it doesn't take a genius to see this.

But enough of the drama. This month was a fun month to write for because I had a fun day at the range test firing the Featured Firearm as well as a few others that will be mentioned later on. I also had a fun little field trip to one of my favorite gun stores in town to discuss gun trends with women as well as carry options in Tidbits. It was truly a fun month for me. I have one of my most asked about projects posted on Creative Corner. Plus, it just seems like this month is chocked full of pictures (taken mostly by my husband, Jesse.)

Am I wearing a gun?

You bet I am!

Just because it's hot outside doesn't mean you can't carry a gun. You can still dress cute and wear fitted clothing and carry. I heard someone once say, "Take a CCW class once a year, practice once a month, carry every day." Whoever said that, you're awesome. And you're right. Make sure that you don't let the hot weather interfere with your personal protection.
