Snuggle Soft Blanket

One of my favorite things about the fall is the weather cooling down and being able to wrap a big ol' blanket around me to snuggle up and watch TV or read a book or just watch it rain. I also love using the same blanket pattern to make my son bedding for his little toddler bed. This blanket is a great thing for both adults and kids. I like a loose weight blanket, but you can put a batting inside to make it a thicker, warmer blanket.

Here's what you'll need to make your blanket:
Measuring tape
Scissors
Thread
Pins
Sewing machine or needle and thread
1 1/2 yards fabric of choice (I like to use a snuggle soft flannel and a velveteen or other super soft fabric)
Blanket border
Batting (optional)

1. Measure a 3' by 4' rectangle out of your top and bottom fabrics. Place them on top of each other with right sides facing out and pin along the edges. *If you are going to put batting in your blanket, sandwich it between the top and bottom fabrics then pin together along the edges.

2. Sew along the edges to keep the fabrics together. Pin two lines vertically downward to create a total of 3 columns. Pin three lines horizontally from left to right to create a total of 4 rows. Sew along pin lines.

3. Pin blanket border along edges. To get corner shape, fold at 90º angle and tuck the edges under to create a triangle. Pin in place and continue all the way around. Cut and tuck the end under and pin in place. * Sometimes blanket borders aren't long enough and you may need 2 borders to go all the way around. If you do, tuck the edge under as you would at the end and continue to the end and tuck under. Sew along border, making sure to go up and down at corners to keep angles tucked in place.
