Sighting A Rifle
By Jenny Teague For many shooters, summertime means more range time. Days last longer and a lot of clubs offer competitions and a lot of hunters are preparing for their fall hunts. One thing to take advantage of this summer is to use this extra daylight and get all your rifles honed in for plinking, practice, or competition. A time-tested method of sighting in a rifle is to start out at 25 yards. Take three shots, taking your time to carefully place each shot. The goal is to get the three shots within a one inch group on the center of the target. If you are using a scope, you will need to adjust your scope so that you can eventually accomplish this and then tighten it when it is in it's place. After you get your rifle sighted at 25 yards, repeat the following steps at 100 yards and again if you plan on shooting any further. Click on the target to print up a letter-sized paper target for your sighting needs. Print one or however many you want! |
