Zombie Tactical Store
By Jenny Teague

OK, whether you want to admit it or not, zombies are very much a part of our society. No, not pop culture, society. Several towns have made popular zombie bar crawls and flash mobs have busted out with Thriller at random. So yes, zombies are real and they are around us. And in the good nature of believing zombies are coming, Zombie Tactical Store has provided a clothing line to remind people of the realities of zombies and how to spot Zombie Response Team members amongst the walking dead. This month I bring you Gary “Agent G” of Zombie Tactical and a little bit about what he sells and why.

Jenny: What's your role in Zombie Tactical Store?
Gary:
Sales and Zombie dispatchment.

J: What was the inspiration behind creating the shirts?
G: Living in a state of constant preparedness. Along with frequenting gun shows where everyone is there preparing as well. You mostly sell at gun shows.

J: Do gun owners seem more likely to defend against zombies than non-gun owners?
G: We mostly sell Tactical gear in the form of clothing. Mostly T shirts, some hats, patches, and signs for warning intruders they have wandered onto an armed property. We also have very cool stickers and buttons!

J: Do you feel zombies have opened up the minds of some non-gun lovers into thinking maybe it might be a good idea to invest in an 870, you know, if nothing else to protect themselves from the impending threat of zombies?
G: I think that non-gun owners should look into training before they purchase any type of weapon. However the shotgun is a great all around weapon whether it is zombies, terrorists, or any other type of criminal.

J: Of the people you meet, how many would you say look at the line of items lightheartedly and laugh and buy because they think they're cool and how many would you say are serious and believe in their hearts there really will be a zombie apocalypse soon?
G: It is unfair to judge the persons disposition without knowing them, but I can say that those who do stop at our tables usually respond with a huge smile and the word "AWESOME!" is a part of their dialog.

J: Do you think there could be a zombie apocalypse? If so, why/how?
G: Reanimated dead...doubtful, but I have learned anything is possible. Also mind controling spores already exist in the insect world so it is just a matter of cell mutation before it happens in humans. I feel the "Rage" type of virus is more likely a threat and is already present in the mammal community as seen the virus Rabies. So the mutation for a human strain is not as far away as unlikely, especially when you add world governments into the equation. As a matter of fact I am sure there is some scientist sitting in a lab right now trying to splice the DNA in order to create that weapon.

J: In the event of a zombie apocalypse you can only have 3 things every day with you. What are they?
G: Fast Answer... Water, Food, and Shelter. But as for "THINGS"... a pot to boil water/cook with/wash with/etc., a machete, and fire making tools (Flint & Stone, string for a bow, or a large magnesium fire starter.)

J: Last words of wisdom other than buy all the Zombie Tactical gear possible to stock up for a possible outbreak?
G: Remember your best asset is Practical Knowledge and having a plan, the more you know about how to survive the better your chances are. However, you can know everything about surviving in the wilderness, but if you are trapped at sea would you know how to survive? Or if you were trapped in the snow could you survive if you have lived in the deep south your whole life? Zombies would happen everywhere so knowing the basics on surviving is good, but having a plan to get you to the best environment is the best way to go.

On that note, an otherwise lighthearted interview with "Agent G" has some pretty good words of wisdom. In the end, while it's all fun and games, the message of be prepared is there. Prepared for anything be it a disaster, crime, or even zombies. Be sure to check out their website www.zombietacticalstore.com for all your zombie apocalypse response team needs.
