The Ruger LC9.
Ruger LC9
By Jenny Teague

I had been wanting to try the Ruger LC9 since I heard it came out. I like my LCP as it's a great "small gun" for carry purposes that seems to fit well under more difficult to carry situations, so when I heard Ruger came out with a gun very close in size with a little more oomph, I was giddy to give it a shot.

How Does Gunslinging Housewife Rate it?
I like my LCP, I'm not fond of the LC9 at all. I know this is something to say seeing as I usually like most guns I shoot. That's not to say this is a bad gun, it's just not my choice for a 9mm. In a situation of looking for something to conceal when wanting more power than the LCP, I'd just say screw it and go with my Glock 36.

Pro: It's small and easily concealable. The pricerange is great for a 9mm. It is a nice ergonomic pistol and fits in the hands well.

Cons: Where do I start?! The trigger on this gun is horrendous. It feels like your squeezing and squeezing forever before any shots are fired. The reset also seems like forever. Shooting this in a completely calm and controlled environment felt stressful, I don't want to know what it would be like if my life were at stake. Waiting for the thing to cycle before I have to squeeze the trigger that takes forever, again and again? The recoil on this pistol is high, too, although not as snappy as it's predecessor, the LCP. Overall, it just seemed to handle awkward and in the end, I said enough and went back to testfiring another 9mm we checked out.

I won't lie. I had pretty high expectations for this gun going in and felt greatly disappointed. The LC9 wasn't the right gun for me. Jesse wasn't too fond of it either. But I'm convinced there's someone in the world who likes this gun and to them I say enjoy it! I'll stick to the guns I do like.

It's a little pistol, just not the one for me.
